Description
We got a sample of this and had to have it, pure and simple. The grower says that it is Lavandin Grosso. We have offered organic Lavender Grosso for years, from a very trusted source, and aromatically it is nothing like this speciman. To my nose, this Lavandin smells like the Avice Hill Lavender that Chris Burder produces in Australia, flat out the other side of the world, and his is true Angustifolia. So I am very confused. I have printed out the GC of this, and of our French grown Lavandin Grosso, and can not find what is the specific constituent that give this the subtly spicy note that I love in the Avice Hill Lavender.
This specimen of Lavandin is much much higher in relaxing Linalol acetate than the French oil, which would make it much more relaxing. Significantly lower in Linalol, so I would not expect much germ killing effect. Lower in 1.8 cineole (aka Eucalyptol) just very different from the French oil.. I trust the distiller implicitly. He offers a chain of transparency going all the way back to the farm the Lavandin was grown on, so I am, for now, going with his GC, listed below. It only gives the major components, and leaves me with more questions than answers.
However… aromatically? I LOVE this Lavandin. We use a lot of Lavandin Super in our various relaxation blends, and some pain relief blends, because Dr. Jane Buckle taught us (and our experience has shown) that it can be even more effective than Lavandula angustifolia for relaxation. I plan to experiment with this new Italian Lavandin for the same uses, because of the high level of esters. (Our Lavandin Super has 36.50% Linalyl Acetate. This Hybrid Lavender has 38.37%.) It is, for us, a mystery oil. We do not understand its chemistry or its aroma, but we know that it is exactly what the distiller says it is and we know that it is a delightful addition to our collection.
We hope you will love it as much as we do!
SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.

Smells wonderful! A little more herb like than floral.
