Description
I’ve never found an “evergreen needle oil” that smelled like my memory of the New England mountains wanted it to. And then I discovered this Black Spruce Oil, and was mentally taken to a green mountain top. This oil is so clear and crisp, I fell in love with it. Having discovered it, I set about searching for uses for it, so I could justify surrounding myself with it.
Emotionally, I find it freeing and uplifting. Stimulating mentally. My resources recommend it for mental and physical exhaustion, say that it is grounding as well as stimulating. It is recommended for relief of both stress and anxiety.
Physically, I have seen it recommended for muscle aches and pains, aching joints, poor circulation, muscle spasms. It also could be helpful for bronchitis or asthma.
I use it just because I love having it in the atmosphere! I’ve found a blend of Black Spruce, Clary, and a touch of Bulgarian Lavender just wonderful in an end of the day bath blend…just let the cares and tensions of the day disappear.

This was my first conifer, and still my favorite. There’s something about it’s energy that makes you want to be around it. It’s the most balanced conifer I know of. Not too sweet, not too woodsy. Just right. It blends really well with Indian frankincense, English lavender, vetiver, and any citrus. One of my favorites for anxiety when I don’t want something sweet or floral.

I use this oil almost daily in my massage practice. It blends so well with other oils as it’s not overpowering at all, but it has just the right amount of the fresh woodsy aroma to stand out. It makes a wonderful addition to your blends. My personal favorite is to blend with black pepper and lemongrass.

I love this for respiratory issues, but it was also recommended to combine with plai for a pain blend. I finally made some when my back/sacroiliac issues flared up, and I was amazed at how much better I could move. I mixed in in jojoba infused with frankincense resin extract (the leftover product after distillation), and I believe that the combination of plai, black spruce, and frankincense extract helped tone down the inflammation and tame the pain while I was recovering. It was amazing how quickly I was able to move better with less pain. Plus, the scent is fantastic.
