It was a Happy New Year eleven years ago from Marge, Christi, et al… sending out a newsletter with January sales and savings with one of a kind and very low stock products. They even ran a special on “irregulars” (I’m sorry. I’m not sure what those were, possibly overpours, discolored caps, or dented cans? lol) The monthly sale was on two different areas of concern we still carry today, anti-virals and moisturizers. The timeless benefits of essential oils and aromatherapy are priceless. I also see a notice for “price reduction on our NaturaMist diffuser.” I wish we could still sell diffusers and atomizers that we find meet our standards, but in today’s market you will find better deals from the manufacturers themselves. (I feel another blog coming on. A list of our trusted diffuser brands and how they rank in our eyes. Keep an eye out in the future. Today we are walking down memory lane.)
A visit with Kathy Duffy!
Certified Clinical Aromatherapy Course offered in Tennessee! Sorry folks, That was 2014.
“Christi and I are so excited we can hardly stand it! Kathy Duffy, an old friend and an inspiring teacher will be teaching the R. J. Buckle Clinical Aromatherapy for Health Care Professionals in Clarksville TN.”
Her course at the time included 4 modules:
- Introducing core concepts of clinical aromatherapy(evidence and research backed
- The use of essential oils for infection and stress control within a nursing/healthcare framework
- Chemistry of essential oils
- Women’s health, chronic pain, cancer, and AIDS. Integration: policies and protocols.
FYI: ” More than 2,000 nurses have been trained by R.J. Buckle Associates, LLC in clinical aromatherapy and over 3,000 people have learned the ‘M’ Technique®. R.J. Buckle’s Course Clinical Aromatherapy for Health Professionals was the first aromatherapy course to be endorsed by a national nursing organization (American Holistic Nurses Association) in 1997. ” ‘M’ Technique courses are available to the general public in addition to licensed healthcare professionals. Pioneered as a gentle and easy to learn form of massage for the critically ill and extremely fragile. As much as Marge and Christi were fawning over Kathy Duffy, I had the honor of meeting Carol Scheidel at the recent AIA conference here in Nashville. I hope to take one of her courses one of these days as I grow in my journey of helping others in the world of aromatherapy.
Marge’s Book goes live on KINDLE!
You know my book, Essential Oils and Aromatics by Marge Clark, is available for your Amazon Kindle.
“On Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 8:00 am Pacific Time, it will go on sale for 7 days. The price will start at.99, and increase gradually until the sale is over. The sooner you order the more you will save.” (We may have to revisit this sale. Does that sound good to you?)
Blends for the New Year… and 2025
To add more PLAYFULNESS to your life
Francoise Rapp suggests
This would be a wonderful blend for the diffuser.
Dieting? Help your body DETOX with these:
Detox Scrub: to 1/2 cup of sea salt, add enough carrier oil of your choice (Jojoba works well for all skin types) to blend to a “wet sand” consistency. Blend 4 drops Lemon essential oil, 4 drops Juniper essential oil, and 2 drops Fennel essential oil. Stir essential oil blend into scrub base. After showering, while still standing in the shower, scrub the body with this gently detoxifying scrub, paying special attentions to areas of cellulite. Rinse well and dry.
Detox Bath: Blend one cup Dead Sea Salts with the same essential oil blend mentioned above. Stir into warm bath, soak as long as you have patience for.
Energizer: Combine equal parts of peppermint, juniper, and rosemary cineole essential oils. Either use in a diffuser, or, for an energizing shower, put four or five drops of the blend on the shower floor. The steam will diffuse the aromatics. (Caution! Slippery When Wet with oils!)
Resolved to be more CREATIVE?
I’m told this blend will encourage/enhance your creativity:
- 3 drops Rosewood
- 3 drops Ylang Ylang
- 2 drops Sweet Orange
- 1 drops Clove
(I should be diffusing this while I write this newsletter!) {[(Me too lol…)]}
Warm Up!
The midsouth, and most of our nation, is in the throes of a deep freeze as I type. To warm chilly hands or feet scoop one measuring teaspoon of your favorite cream or lotion into your hand. Add ONE drop of either Black Pepper, or Ginger, or Cistus essential oil. Stir in and rub into hands or feet. This will give you a 1% dilution, not enough to irritate any but the most sensitive skin, but enough to warm you. All three oils are warming circulatory stimulants.
Quote of the Month
Some of you may remember an aromatherapy mailing list that existed close to 20 years ago…“The IDMA list” I never knew what the term “IDMA” referred to, but I learned so much from the members. So many “seniors” in our industry shared their guidance, so many of us newcomers shared our discoveries, asked our questions, grew and learned together. There was an Aromatherapist from Poland, Sherrill P. Her signature line on all of her messages read, “Stay Safe and Warm.” I am reminded of Sherrill this evening as I sit here trying to stay warm.
Stay safe and warm, everyone.
