Description
Just arrived from Bulgaria! This new batch of Zdravetz CO2 Oil is rounder and softer in aroma than the Essential Oil. As you can tell from the photo, it is extremely thick and waxy. We are offering it in jars, rather than in bottles, because we can not keep it liquified enough to pour into bottles. We urge you to sample the 10% dilution, for ease of use.
Zdravetz means “health” in Bulgarian, and this essential oil with the unpronounceable name is reputed to be excellent for sexual health. Bulgarian folklore recommends that the bridegroom sleep in a field of Zdravetz the night before his wedding night. Dietrich Wabner, however, cites British studies indicating that Zdravetz Essential Oil is a healer for a woman’s reproductive system.
My producer writes, “For sure zdravetz CO2 extract covers the properties of the essential oil made of the plant. Plus: natural SPF factor, about 3% vitamin E inside the CO2. It does not increase testosterone but it is beneficial for men’s power and increases libido. The fragrance is typical “masculine” type, preferred by men, and it is included in men’s skincare products – 5-10% dilution in Jojoba oil will make an excellent after-shave fluid”
We discussed that 10% seemed very strong to me for facial skin, but he says that many men prefer the stronger aroma and that even a 10% dilution will do no harm. Personally I would recommend a lower dilution.
Shelf life – minimum of 5 years. We have samples from 2009 that seem OK but must be analyzed to be able to claim longer shelf life.”
Please note, Zdravetz CO2 is solid at room temperature. To blend it you will want to warm it in very hot water. Just be prepared to warm it before blending. Once blended into a carrier oil, Zdravetz will remain liquid.
Reminder, Zdravetz is NOT a relative of the Geranium and Rose Geranium oils, which are members of the Pelargonium species. For skincare purposes it is recommended for “normal” skin, often blended with Geranium or Rose Geranium, Lavender, and/or Myrtle. (Personally, I would blend it with Rose, but that’s me;). I’m also told that it can have a bleaching effect on the skin and may help clear hyperpigmented spots. Since I am often asked to recommend something for this specific problem, I’m glad to hear this.
Chemically, Zdravetz CO2 contains over 50% germacrone, a sesquiterpene. The producer says that the oil is shown to have antiseptic, antispasmodic, anti-allergic and capillary strengthening qualities. By inhalation it is said to aid with both high blood pressure and with neurogenic headaches. Inhalation is also said to relieve menopause symptoms. I’m also told that 15 or so minutes of inhalation can relieve insomnia and induce sleep. I’m planning on bringing some home for my Aromastone to test this latter statement.
Available pure here, or in a 10% Dilution in Organic Jojoba Oil.
WARNINGS: Zdravetz is a relatively new essential oil in America, and has not received extensive dermatological testing. Please use with caution, don’t apply it to broken skin or use with children or the elderly and frail. You might consider patch testing before use.
BLENDS WITH: Aromatically, Zdravetz has a sweet/woody/herbal note, with a touch of spice. It is an excellent fixative for lighter top notes. Blends well with Oakmoss, Cistus, Sandalwood, Clary Sage, Bergamot and other Citrus Oils, Ylangylang, as well as the aforementioned Rose, and Lavender.

Love the smell! And it really stays with you for hours. I did not dilute the whole jar with carrier oil, but scrape tiny amounts and mix with fractionated coconut oil in the palm of may hand. This is time-travel oil. It takes you into the world where everything was real. It smells like European country side in the hot afternoon of early fall.
