Description
Our delightful Zdravetz CO2 Total extract, diluted in organically produced Jojoba, for ease of use and affordablity. (The image above is the reason we dilute it for you.)
Just arrived from Bulgaria! This new batch of Zdravetz Oil is more floral in aroma than the Zdravetz we offered years ago. The other was a much greener and more “herbal” aroma.
Zdravetz means “health” in Bulgarian, and this essential oil with the unpronounceable name is reputed to be excellent for sexual health. Bulgarian folklore recommends that the bridegroom sleep in a field of Zdravetz the night before his wedding night. Dietrich Wabner, however, cites British studies indicating that Zdravetz Essential Oil is a healer for a woman’s reproductive system.
One source says that Zdravetz lowers blood sugar. One traveling friend includes it in her private jetlag blend to ensure a good night’s sleep when her days and nights are reversed (blended with our Bulgarian Lavender and just a touch of Rose Otto ).
Please note, Zdravetz Essential Oil is rich in plant waxes, and, like true Rose Otto, will crystallize at room temperature. To blend it you will want to warm it in very hot water. It is the crystals that contain the secret of both Zdravetz’s long shelf life (up to 8 years!) and its value as a scent fixative for other oils. Just be prepared to warm it before blending. Once blended into a carrier oil, Zdravetz will remain liquid.
Reminder, Zdravetz is NOT a relative of the Geranium and Rose Geranium oils, which are members of the Pelargonium species. For skin care purposes it is recommended for “normal” skin, often blended with Geranium or Rose Geranium, Lavender, and/or Myrtle. (Personally, I would blend it with Rose, but that’s me;). I’m also told that it can have a bleaching effect on the skin and may help clear hyperpigmented spots. Since I am often asked to recommend something for this specific problem, I’m glad to hear this.
Chemically, Zdravetz Essential Oil contains over 50% germacrone, a sesquiterpene. The producer says that the oil is shown to have antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiallergic and capillary strengthening qualities. It is alleged to both lower blood pressure for those suffering from hypertension and to lower or stabilize blood sugar; however I have no references for the above. By inhalation it is said to aid with both high blood pressure and with neruogenic headaches. Inhalation is also said to relieve menopause symptoms. I’m also told that 15 or so minutes of inhalation can relieve insomnia and induce sleep. I’m planning on bringing some home for my Aromastone to test this latter statement.
Available here in a 10% Dilution in Organic Jojoba Oil, or Pure.
WARNINGS: Zdravetz is a relatively new essential oil in America, and has not received extensive dermatological testing. Please use with caution, don’t apply it to broken skin or use with children or the elderly and frail. You might consider patch testing before use.
