  Vetiver, Indonesian (no ratings yet)
Vetiveria zizanioides, hydro-distilled from roots, Indonesia

I had not intended to add a third Vetiver. But my favorite Thai supplier tempted me with a sample, and I fell in love.  I think of our three Vetivers this is aromatically the most complex.  I asked him to hold the batch, and had this tested. No adulteration, no contamination, good.  I wanted 10 kilos. There was less a quarter of that amount available.  He sent me other samples.  No. I didn't love them.  THIS is amazing. Whether we will ever find its match again is questionable.  This particular batch is well worthy of a place in our Private Reserve.

Of our three current Vetiver offerings, the Haitian is lightest and sweetest... although still grounding, the Indian is, I think, in the middle, deeper and darker, aromatically. This new Indonesian Vetiver is deep, dark, complex, with a mystery at its core.  It is freshly distilled (late Autumn, 2018) with a long shelf life. I hope I have the foresight to put some aside and watch how it matures over time.

I love Vetiver—the honeyed sweetness of its scent, and the grounding effect it has when my mind is scattered. Supplies of this special batch of Indonesian Vetiver are limited.

Emotionally, Vetiver is very grounding and balancing; I value it for this. Vetiver is a key ingredient in our anti-anxiety blend, Reunité. It is also very relaxing, a mild sedative, useful for stress I would not be without it, and use it daily blended with Neroli, Petitgrain, and a touch of Citrus.

I’ve seen Vetiver recommended in treatments for anorexia; and have read that it stimulates production of red blood cells and that it is useful for “aches and pains.” It balances sebum production, so is useful in treating both oily and dry skin.

Vetiver is far too thick to come out of the largest orifice reducers we have. When you receive a bottle of it, you will need to remove the reducer and pipette or pour the oil out. Be sure to replace the reducer when you’re done as it creates a seal between the bottle and cap.

SHELF LIFE: Approximately 5 to 8 years after you open the bottle.  Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life. (This is the official estimate.  Our experience shows that with proper storage it could be much longer.)

GC/MS

Batch #IND-58804 coming soon.

BLENDS WITH: All our Vetiver oils blend beautifully with Jasmine, Neroli, Orange, Patchouli, Petitgrain, and Rose. They are perfect in any blend that needs a sweet base note to anchor it.
