  Patchouli, India
Pogostemon patchouli, wildcrafted, steam-distilled leaves, India.

This new distillation will age beautifully. First inhalation impressions are of an oil on its way to becoming a deep and dark version of Patchouli oil. As it ages it can only improve, so I would suggest buying some to store for a few years.

Patchouli, oil of the 60’s is an effective anti-inflammatory for the skin, helpful in healing cracked or inflamed skin, acne, dermatitis, and eczema. It is said to tone and tighten the skin, and is used in many anti wrinkle blends. At the same time it helps regulate oily skin and dandruff. Some authorities say it is useful in appetite suppressant blends and, with its skin toning qualities, in combating cellulite.

Patchouli oil truly stars as an excellent base note for perfume blends, and is generally considered an aphrodisiac. In small quantities it has a mildly sedative effect, while in large quantities it may be stimulating.

BLENDS WITH: Bergamot, Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavender, Myrrh, the sweeter Citrus Oils, Nutmeg and Cinnamon Leaf, as well as other base notes—Sandalwood, Rosewood, etc.

Please keep in mind that Patchouli is very thick and may have a hard time coming out of the orifice reducers in the bottles. You’ll most likely need to take the orifice reducer out and pipette the Patchouli out. Be sure to replace the orifice reducer, as it is what creates a seal between the bottle and top.

I’ve had a bottle of this patchouli for a little over a year now. Lovely patchouli aroma. When I first opened the bottle last year it had a very fresh, peppery, almost green scent. Over the months it has softened, sweetened, and I can detect more woodsy notes. My favorite way to use it is blended with your lavender CO2 (or English lavender for facial skincare) and frankincense sacra infused oil.
