  Manuka (no ratings yet)
Leptospermum scoparium, wildcrafted, steam-distilled leaves, New Zealand.
- Powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral
- Effective against strep and staph infections
- Preferred oil of Madeleine Kerkof (instead of Tea Tree)

This is a powerful antibacterial oil, gentler than the melaleucas (ie, Tea Tree, etc.). Similar in action to Tea Tree, but much less medicinal in aroma, this healing oil is honey scented. Use as you would Tea Tree, for anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral benefits.

It is proven effective against both strep and staph infections. Testing at the University of Heidelberg show that Manuka is more effective than Tea Tree essential oil when dealing with gram positive bacteria. Both Tea Tree Oil and Manuka Oil also demonstrated a very good antimicrobial efficacy against various antibiotic-resistant staphylococcus species.

Experimental use has shown it helpful in dealing with the symptoms of chronic fatigue. I find it milder and less irritating than Tea Tree in skin care products. This has become, in our house, one of the “must have” oils, and is a key ingredient in our Clarifying Synergy to combat acne breakouts.

Educator and author Madeleine Kerkhof-Knapp Hayes advises it is a "go-to" oil along with Geranium and Calophyllum for any fungal type infection, including candida and thrush. (Always at a very low dilution!)

(Update, in her November 2018 class in Atlanta GA, Ms. Kerkhof stated several times that she prefers to use Manuka rather than Tea Tree for the population she addresses.  She feels Tea Tree Oil is just too harsh, and Manuka is at least as effective, if not more so.

This Manuka Oil is harvested and distilled on the East coast of New Zealand, reputed to produce the best/most effective essential oil.

SHELF LIFE: Approximately 1 to 2 years after you open the bottle.  Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.
