Description
When I was a child, my neighbor’s 20 foot tall Lilac bush bloomed under my bedroom window. The intoxication aroma perfumed my dreams on early summer nights.
Several years ago we received a sample of this rare extract, and declined to import it. The aroma was just too weak. But my friend and mentor Madeleine Kerkhof-Knapp Hayes teaches its use, so I decided to try again. What a difference. The undiluted (and very solid) Total Extract is still too mildly scented, but we warmed a wee bit, warmed 90% Organic Jojoba Oil (by weight, not volume) and ah! the difference. It is still softly and subtly scented, but definitely Lilac. It will never be an assertive aroma, never overwhelm the space you are in, but we find it lovely, subtle, and evocative.
A drop of the diluted extract on my wrist, and the warmth of my skin brings the aroma I remember from my childhood.
Madeleine recommends using the essence at only two or three %, and says that this lovely Lilac essence is “relaxing, soothing, and harmonizing. It is said to promote love and optimism, to be sweetly relaxing.
I believe it is an instant nostalgia trip for those who grew up near lilac bushes. For me, it is a destressor. It is said to be helpful in blends for grief, for issues with unconditional love. I defy anyone to breath this sweet essence and not smile.
A rare delight.

You can’t smell the lilac in the least~ I understand it is delicate and tough to produce an oil from lilacs, but I expected at least a *little* scent…. I feel sad that I wasted money on this… :/
Helene, I’m sorry that was your reaction. Have you applied it to your wrists? Our experience is that it needs the warmth of the human body to truly open up. And it will never have a lot of “sillage”… it’s for personal enjoyment.

Even though this is out of stock I just had to say I loved this oil for diffusing. I got the best compliments on how beautiful my house smelled and where could they get it. I am willing to wait for ever, which I hope I don’t have to do, to get more of this. I MISS IT! It didn’t do much on the body for me. So I decided to try diffusing and just one drop was enough for a small diffuser to last for hours on mist setting. Are you going to be able to get more???? 5 stars for me.
Karen we had a shipment en route in late July, 2018, and UPS lost it. It’s taken awhile to sort out that mess, but we should have more in another two to three weeks. There are always concerns about adding a diluted oil to a diffuser, I am glad it is working well for you.

The smell is delicate and heavenly, just like the flowers. I put it on my neck and wrists and catch gentle whiffs of it. Whenever I want a bigger “hit,” I simply smell whichever finger I used to apply it. Very pleased with this purchase!

I love this scent! This oil has a sweet fragrance. It sweetens any blend without taking over. (I have to be more careful with vanilla & rose.)
It is also great by itself. It’s sweet and slightly floral. I feel more put together when I wear it.

Like Spring in a bottle. Lilacs are some of my favorite flowers, but they never last when you cut them and bring them in the house. Now I can just open this tiny bottle, close my eyes and breathe in spring from my childhood.

This one has a very faint, powdery smell to me. I’ve never had a bad oil from here so I’m guessing my nose may be off.

Amazingly, this smells like fresh lilacs. It’s a scent that, imo, no artificial fragrance can really capture- they all lose something of the cheerful, friendly feeling a real lilac brings. I’m looking forward to this as a way to brighten the coming winter season, though I’m sure I’ll enjoy wearing it so much more when the season is more “appropriate.”
