  Lavender, English
Lavandula angustifolia, ethically farmed, steam-distilled flowering tops, Great Britain.
- Soft spicy note
- Anti-bacterial useful for acne or other problem skin
- Relaxing

To learn about the entire Lavender / Lavandin family, including uses and recipes go to our About Notable Essential Oil Collections page.

I have a new favorite. When we received this sample I fell in love with its aroma. Much less floral than our Mailette, this English lavender has almost a softly spicy note, perhaps because of its relatively higher level of linalool. What really encouraged me to import some, though, was a discussion with an online friend, an Englishman. The linalool level in this oil is higher than that of our High Altitude Lavenders, which should give this specific lavender an extra antibacterial edge. I would reach for it for acne blends, or for any of the antibacterial uses for Lavender. Its linalyl acetate is lower than any of our French oils. Which only goes to prove that we really DO NOT always know what makes an essential oil effective. There is just so much more to learn!

Due to its low linalyl acetate content, I would not reach for this oil as a relaxant.  I would add it to a liquid soap for a fresh invigorating morning shower.  Think of it as a great addition to a the crisp, fresh, traditional scent of Lavender you've come to expect over the years.  It is not floral.

Because of its unusually high level of antibacterial linalool this might be the most effective true Lavender for treating problem skin, acne, or other bacterial conditions. (and treating it gently!)

SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after you open the bottle.  Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.
