  Eucalyptus, Lemon Ironbark
Eucalyptus staigeriana, organically produced but not certified, steam-distilled from leaves, Australia.
• Uplifting, mood elevating,
• Anti-viral, anti-infectious
• Use to lighten germkilling blends.
• Sometimes called "Australian Melissa"

This is the sweetest “lemony” oil we have ever experienced! I thought of lemonade, Christi thought of lemon jelly beans. As sweet as candy. (I’m told that at one time in Australia it was used to flavor “lemon cordial,” an Australian version of our lemonade. I can well believe it.)

I am told that it has antibacterial properties, although not as powerfully antbacterial as Tea Tree or Lemon Myrtle. I can see it shining as a sunshiny mood elevator. We fell in love and had to have some!

Having fallen in love, I had to research it. Unlike the Eucalyptus oils chosen for their respiratory effects, high in 1,8-cineole,  Lemon Ironbark oil is composed of geranial, methyl geranate, geranyl acetate, limonene, phellandrene, neral, terpinolene, and geraniol. It may be a skin irritant, so I would prefer to use it in the diffuser. If using topically, please use in very low dilution.

I have seen it recommended as a sedative and a calming stress reliever.

Len and Shirley Price noted that of all the eucalyptus family, staigeriana seems to be the one that has the most up-lifting effect on emotions.  It was noted that the Prices commented that Melissa Officianalis contains 70% aldehydes, citing that Schnaubelt maintains that aldehydes are essential for psychological health and well-being. Based on this theory, at roughly 30% aldehydes in Eucalyptus staigeriana, one can understand the joy of diffusing it.

In the winter it would be useful in the diffuser because it is said to be both anti-viral and anti-infectious. If the more commonly recommended anti-viral and anti-bacterial oils are too medicinal for your taste, add a bit of Lemon Ironbark to your germkilling blend and bring in a touch of aromatic sunshine.

WARNING: Contains citral, a strong sensitizer. Avoid use on broken skin. Avoid use during pregnancy. Maximum dilution for topical use: 3%

SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after you open the bottle.  Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.

GC/MS Analysis:
Batch No. AU-ES-046
Batch NO. AU-58551
Batch No. AU-58958

BLENDS WITH: Cedarwood, Lemon, Lavender, Marjoram, Pine, Rosemary, and Thyme.

  • 5 Tangy sweet

I love good lemonade, and after reading the description of this oil, I just had to buy it!

Upon first whiff, there was no question why our Australian friends use this instead of lemons! The scent reminds me of Lemonheads candy, that perfect balance of pucker-tart and smoothly sweet. I haven’t tried mixing my own tasty drink with this, but it’s one of those oils that’s just perfect to diffuse on its own. It’s so bright and happyy all by itself!

I just love this oil and would bathe in its scent if I could. Does not smell anything like prototypical eucalyptus - would never know they are in the same family if no one told me. Amazing sniffed straight from the bottle! Sweet and a little tangy makes me want to take many deep breaths. Will definitely purchase again.
