  Tansy, Blue (Moroccan Chamomile)
Tanacetum annuum, organically produced, steam-distilled flowers, Morocco.
- delightfully fresh, honeyed apple scent
- anti-histamine, anti-allergen properties
- asthma, emphysema
- blend with Helichrysum for skin damage
- natural source of theophylline, a bronchodilator

Finally, a “blue” oil with an aroma I can love! Please remember: this is not the high-thujone Tanacetum vulgare that grows wild in Utah and elsewhere and is often warned against for use in aromatherapy. This ANNUAL tansy is a safe and mild anti-inflammatory with a delightfully fresh, honeyed apple scent.

Kurt Schnaubelt extols this magnificent deep indigo oil for its anti-histaminic/anti-allergen properties. He suggests using it (applied to the solar plexus) in blends for asthma or diffusing it in blends for emphysema…blending Pine, Cypress and just a touch of this lovely Tansy Oil. He recommends a blend of three drops Helichrysum and two drops Tanacetum annuum diluted in carrier oil for any situation where the skin has been damaged…sunburn, radiation, etc. (This was the combination my friend Sylla used in a spray to recover from the effects of radiation treatments.)

Jeanne Rose states that Blue Tansy essential oil is a natural source of theophylline, a bronchiodilator, which would explain its being recommended for asthma crises. And many sources write of the links between childhood asthma and adult eczema and other dermatitis conditions.

This delightfully sweet-scented oil with its high azulene content would be a wonderful alternative to German Chamomile or Yarrow in skin care blends. For irritated skin, try blending it with Helichrysum. Please use in weak dilutions, it is more effective at levels (under 5%) than in stronger dilutions.

SHELF LIFE: Approximately 3 to 4 years after you open the bottle.  Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.

  • 5 Must have for allergies

Posted by Charlie from Florida on 04/10/2018

The description of this is spot on. I purchased this oil because my allergies have declared war on me since moving to Florida. Nothing has made a difference. All my go tos to relieve my symptoms seemed almost ineffective. I received my bottle of blue tansy this afternoon and immediately made an inhaler. That was nine hours ago. My breathing has improved, I’m coughing less, my eyes have stopped watering and they don’t itch as much. I can’t wait to see what this will do over the next few days.

  • 5 Remarkable antihistamine

This oil is simply remarkable for allergies. I’ve tried several oral antihistamines, and besides being drying, they didn’t work very well. I don’t go anywhere without my inhaler. It also smells wonderful. Wish I’d know about it when I had radiation for breast cancer.
