Fresh from Oz, another new unique essential oil specimen: Balm Mint Bush (Prostanthera Melissifolia). Delightful, fresh, and uplifting are words that come to mind upon first inhalation. Its pleasing aroma presents mint entwined with a sweet soft floral ascending into a camphoraceous, herbaceous array reminiscent of Eucalyptus or Ravintsara due to the 1,8 cineole content, which is one of four bountiful components. (The others are piperitone, a-pinene, linalool.)

As the name suggests, it is derived from leaves of the Balm Mint Bush, which grows in Southern Victoria and parts of New South Wales, Australia. While in bloom it boasts light purplish-blue petals. The essential oil is light.

The producer says it is: antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, and carminative (helps with flatulence/bloating). Anecdotal evidence suggests its use for colds, particularly stuffed noses, and for that matter, respiratory issues and headaches. (Thinking Peppermint for headache, and Balm Mint Bush.)

Emotionally said to help alleviate stress and tension, gently uplifting the spirit.
