    FIREWORKS SALE:

From Midnight Saturday Morning, July 2nd through Midnight Monday night July 4th celebrate the long Independence Day weekend with us. Enter the promotional code “Liberty” (without the quotation marks) at checkout, press apply, and save from 8 to 12% on all of our regularly discountable retail products. The discount can not apply to any of our special books, kits, clearance items...ie, nothing marked “no discount may apply”...but almost every retail product may be discounted. If you do NOT see the discount reflected onscreen please go back and enter and reapply the code. We will not be able to apply the discount retroactively under any circumstances.

    Christmas in July sale:

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a tree — so we’ve put our favorite North American conifer oils on sale — White Fir, Balsam Fir, Pinon Pine - save 10% on our specials page. Also, for Christmas in July, our favorite holiday synergies — Holiday Joy, Winter Sunshine, and Three Kings. Skincare Specials — our favorite and most skin pampering CO2 extracts — Pomegranate Seed, Seabuckthorn Berry, Rose Hip Pulp — all on sale. Aloe Vera Gel, to soothe summer sun damage. Cool off with all of our mint essential oils — fruity Bergamot Mint, Peppermint and Spearmint. Save 10% on all of them.

    Helichrysum Special Sale:

We have put our “copper free” Helichrysum Essential Oil from Corsica on special sale — 20% off our regular price. This “batch” of Helichrysum is higher in neryl acetate but lower in diones than our “Traditional” Helichrysum. We have never offered any Corsical Heli at a price this low.

    New/Back in Stock:

HYDROSOLS — Neroli! Yarrow! ORGANIC Witch Hazel. Because so many batches of Neroli Hydrosol are contaminated, we sent some of this batch to our favorite chemist for testing. It came back with 0 fungi and 0 bacteria, so we are delighted to be able to offer it to you. See the links to all three on our specials page.

FRUIT SEED OILS — Just in time for Summer Sun protection Red Raspberry Seed and Cranberry Seed oils are back in stock.

    BLOG UPDATE:

In the month of June we’ve blogged about:

  • Whether to make my book Essential Oils and Aromatics available for Kindle. (The response was an overwhelming yes!) If you are interested, the distributor is out of stock on my book, and we have very few copies left. The publisher will not discuss a second edition so if you want a hard copy, now is the time to order.
  • An international JOJOBA shortage.
  • More Government interference from our least favorite government agency. (Yes, I am afraid to mention them by name.) Now they are preventing the import of products because they disagree with what a producer in another country says about his product.
  • Christi blogged about her remedy for summer stings and “bites” in “Taking the Sting out of Summer Fun.”

  • OUR CLIENTS SAY:

    Sunburn Soother

Earlier in June Donna Thompson was ordering several bottles of Sunburn Soother, and wrote:

Getting ready for a beach trip! The Sunburn Soother saved us last year. So I want to be sure to have plenty on hand =) thanks for a great product that I feel good about using!

Special thanks to her for letting us quote her!!!

    Lavandin Grosso

    Jamian Reed recently wrote:

I am also sad that the Lavandin Grosso has been out of stock for some time. Any idea when it will be available again? I like its anti-inflammatory effects for soothing sensitive skin, acne, razor rash, etc. I have been using abrial as a substitute for these applications. Is this what you would recommend, or would you recommend one of the lavenders?

(I was never quite clear on WHAT was the best use for the Grosso, so was just delighted to hear that from Jamian. And, of course, what was even better was that our new shipment arrived the day that was written.)

    Dust Mites:

There has been a lot of information published to the effect that adding Eucalyptus Globulous to the washing machine can eliminate dust mites (a major allergen). We just recently came across a study showing that the components of Geranium Oil (pelargonum graveolens) also can kill dust mites. Geraniol was shown more effective than DEET. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18955817

We have read several places that Rose Geranium is also an effective tick repellant. I know we have some clients who add a ml or two of Geranium or Rose Geranium oil to our SkeeterBeater.

    Genital Herpes

Lisa Mertz recently wrote the following:

Dear Marge, I gave a friend some calophyllum oil with ravensara and melissa in it to use as an experiment for genital herpes. She reported it immediately took the pain out and continued to relieve the pain with 2x/daily applications, then the outbreak cleared up in 3 days — rather than suffering for 2 weeks!

    Results worth sharing!

    Fly & Mosquito Repellant:

Years ago Joannie Manning wrote this...and I misplaced it...

I was particularly interested in essential oils and am THRILLED with the fantastic results that the Lemon Tea Tree Oil has had in keeping the mosquitoes out of my horse trough. A few drops and the bugs are gone and the horses drink the water fine. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Please pass this on to any others worried about West Nile Virus and their babies. I am in Alabama, tons of mosquitoes and larvae till I tried this. I put 4 gtts only in a trough approx. 4 ft. long by 3 ft. wide by 3 ft. deep. The water stays crystal clear.

    AROMATIC QUOTE

As early as 1690, Sir William Temple wrote in his Essay on Health & Long Life “The use of scents is not practiced in modern physic but might be carried out with advantage seeing that some smells are so depressing and others so inspiring and reviving.”

“Sound when stretched is music. Movement when stretched is dance. Mind when stretched is meditation. Life when stretched is celebration.” — Shri Shri Ravishankar Jee

    And for midsummer:

    Here’s flowers for you;
    Hot lavender, mints, savoury, marjoram;
The marigold, that goes to bed wi’ the sun
And with him rises weeping: these are flowers
Of middle summer, and I think they are given
    To men of middle age.
    —A Winter’s Tale
