To my nose our Turkish Rose Otto is just a bit lighter aromatically than the deep Bulgarian Rose. Which is best for you is a matter of choice.
The ultimate Rose Oil. Available pure and undiluted, or in a 5% Dilution in long-lasting Fractionated Coconut Oil, skin safe and ready to wear.
The phrases “Rose Otto,” and “Rose Oil,” and “Rose Essential Oil” mean the exact same thing. A true essential oil hydro-distilled from the petals of Rosa damascena. The best quality Rose Otto is grown and distilled in Bulgaria and Turkey. The Rosa damascena oils produced in other countries simply do not measure up.
Rose Oil Uses
The ultimate woman’s oil, Rose Otto (rose oil) is calming, and supportive. In my experience nothing strengthens a woman’s spirit as well as true rose oil.
Rose has no parallel in treating grief, hysteria, or depression.
Rose oil is believed by many to help balance female hormones, regulate the menstrual cycle, and ease the discomforts of PMS and menopause. In Europe it is used to treat genito-urinary infections. Sexual difficulties also respond well to rose’s gentle support. It is helpful to all skin types.
Please note that true, undiluted Rose Otto can become solid at a cool room temperature. If this happens to yours, you can roll the bottle around in your hand for a few minutes, or put it in some warm water, and it will liquefy.
Blends With: All the different roses blend especially well with the citrus oils, Cedarwoods, Frankincense, Jasmine, Lemongrass, Mandarine, Patchouli, Sandalwood, and Vetiver. Rose and Sandalwood are one of my favorite perfume blends, any proportion works well. Sandalwood with a hint of rose is lovely for a man’s cologne; Rose with a touch of Sandalwood works beautifully for women. Either make a wonderfully romantic massage oil.

The classic Rose Oil—from the Valley of Roses in Bulgaria.
This Rose Otto is organically grown and produced by an EcoCert certified distiller. Aromatically, to my nose this Bulgarian distillation is very deep. Please use in very very light dilutions, otherwise it will truly overwhelm you. Available undiluted and in this 5% dilution in Organic Jojoba Oil.
SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.

This is perhaps the “rosiest” Rose Geranium from Madagascar we have offered in years. Few of us here are really geranium lovers, but when this scent strip got passed around with the women in our production department, it won a unanimous thumbs up. Michelle can not WAIT to blend the new batch of Passages with this beautiful oil. I don’t think I have ever raved about any geranium… consider me raving!
This rose-scented variety of the scented geranium is raised specifically because of the rose-like odor of its leaves. To me, it smells like a blend of a floral and herbal aroma. It’s not a substitute for Rose Otto, but it does have a more “rosy” aroma than most other Geraniums.
Both Geranium and Rose Geranium are effective anti-bacterials, earning a place in anti-acne blends and should be considered for other skin infections. They are wonderful oils for combination skin. I would also want to use them in any blend to assist with hormonally caused acne.
It is the oil I use in blends for menopausal difficulties. Geranium is known as “the balancer” of essential oils and Rose Geranium is reputed to assist with hormonal balance. Geranium and Rose Geranium are available in two of our synergies made just for women, Moondays and Passages.
A very different use: The Whole Dog Journal recommends the use of Rose Geranium as a tick repellant for your canine kids. (Please don’t use any essential oils on cats!)
Safety: Robert Tisserand advises: low risk of skin sensitization, may interact with diabetic, antianxiety, opioid, analgesic, anticancer, HIV treatment and other medications as well as nicotine.
SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.
Rose Geranium Hydrosol is available on our Aromatherapy Hydrosols page.
Like the other Geranium Essential Oils, it blends well with Clary Sage, Rose, Sandalwood, Frankincense, Lavender, and Chamomile, among others.

The use of solvents yields a deeper, richer rose aroma, making the absolute far better for perfumery, and perhaps for emotional uses. However, for skin care, for internal uses, and for physical effects the pure steam-distilled Bulgarian Rose Otto is the wiser choice. Both are well worth experiencing! One luxury-loving client recommends blending the two for the ultimate sensory experience.
Of all of our various Rose Absolutes, this Rosa damascena has the deepest notes, perhaps a blend of sunshine and shadow. I would call it a deep heart note, compared to the high heart notes of the sunnier centifolia extractions.
The absolute is a deep orange in color, and needs diluting to be truly appreciated and is available in a 5% Dilution.
SHELF LIFE: Approximately 3 to 4 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.

BLENDS WITH: All the different rose oils blend especially well with Frankincense, Jasmine, Lemongrass, Mandarine, Patchouli, Sandalwood, and Vetiver.
Years ago, the first true rose oil that I experienced was an absolute, Rose Maroc, from Leydet. I fell in love, and have loved the various roses ever since. To MY nose and MY subjective experience, the absolutes created from the Rosa centifolia (100 petalled rose) are a bit lighter and sunnier than the deeper Rosa damascena absolutes.
Which to choose? We urge you to sample all three of our absolutes, and compare to our organic Rose Otto. For the physical benefits of true Rose Otto, we prefer the distilled. For emotional and perfumery, it is a matter of personal taste. The Rose Maroc is a higher perfumery note, perhaps a high heart note, while the Bulgarian Damascena is much deeper. Both have extraordinary staying power.
Also available pure and undiluted.

The most Blissful Bath we have ever experienced.
There’s a story behind the development of this new product. Some of you know that 2002 was a difficult year for us, on a personal level. We mourned the loss of dear ones, and I personally was left bereft. Days were busy, and okay, but once I came home from work, the nights were so very empty and lonely. I knew I had to do some things to nurture and take care of myself, of my spirit. One of these things became a nightly ritual…a warm bath, beeswax candles, soft music, and rose oil in my bath, because our pure Rose Otto nourishes a woman’s spirit, as well as her skin. Bath salts weren’t the answer for me…my more than mature skin finds salts too drying. I needed a bath oil, but they float on top of the water and feel greasy, not soft and nourishing.
I experimented with a friends formula for a “blooming bath powder”…and thus our Bliss Bath was borne. A container of powder (actually a special form of tapioca starch), each wee bit moistened with nourishing, rich Jojoba Oil, with my beloved Rose Oil added with a generous hand. Add a scant scoop of this magical stuff to the tub as it fills…the powder dissolves, dispersing the moisturizing jojoba, and the silky soft powder throughout the water, so that every inch of your skin is caressed with its silken touch. The Rose Oil soothes and nurtures both the skin and the spirit. You leave the bath with your skin feeling soft and silky, your spirit rested and restored. The soft scent of roses surrounds you.
This featherlight powdered balm is tightly packed in a PET bail jar (for safety), so you can securely seal it to keep moisture out. We are legally required to sell it by weight, and I’m embarrassed to admit that it weighs only 2 and 1/2 ounces. But it measures a full 16 ounces by volume by the time we finish packing it. One container will give you between 15 and 20 blissful baths, depending on how extravagant you are with it.
We debated whether or not to offer this product. It’s costly, when the supermarket is filled with $2.98 bottles of bath oil. But every woman who sampled it begged for more. Two young women, not Rose Oil lovers, emailed me that it was a “Four Star!!!”, those who love Rose want to stay in the tub all evening, and one husband wrote the following glowing review:
“Nature’s Gift Bliss Bath caresses her body, leaving her skin soft and silky smooth. Enjoy a relaxing soak in Nature’s Gift Bliss Bath before your next romantic interlude. Entice and delight your mate with the velvety touch of your supple skin.”
Now, folks, I didn’t design this as an aphrodisiac…I designed it to make ME feel better. But who am I to argue with this nice young man.

The rare and precious white rose from Bulgaria’s Valley of the Roses is a direct descendant of the ancient Rosa Gallica, one of the oldest members of the rose family. The Rosa Alba has a much more intense aroma than Rosa Damascena, source of our traditional Rose Otto. A very special luxury indeed, Rosa Alba Oil is available undiluted or in this 5% Dilution in Organic Jojoba Oil for ease of use and affordability.
The CO2 extraction method yields a product closer in aroma to the raw botanical…in this case the true white rose…than does the process of distillation. More of the aromatic chemicals come through the process, and yet there are no solvents used as found in our Rose Absolutes. This wonderful CO2 extract may be the ultimate pure and natural rose oil.
The bargain price, compared to our other roses, means that it will not last long. If it interests you, I would order immediately.
