  Fir, Douglas
Pseudosuga menzesii wildcrafted in the American Southwest by an Artisan distiller. Private Reserve. Samples available only on the dropdown menu, with other sizes.

When we were sampling the wonderful array of oils from this dedicated artisan distiller, Jim spoke up. "This is the best, we have to offer it."  It was not my first choice, nor Christi's. We both liked it, but clearly this oil has a bit of masculine energy to it, and Jim was adamant. We need it. so we are making it available to you.

Douglas-Fir is not a true fir, but has it's own botanical family, Pseudosuga menzesii, False Hemlock It may look like a hemlock, but certainly smells nothing like the Canadian Hemlock oil we have sampled.  I'm told that if you are from the southwest, this may be the Christmas Tree you grew up with. The oil certainly does smell Christmassy!.

As well as the alpha and beta Pinenes found in most conifers, this Douglas Fir is very high in Bornyl Acetate, which may be what gives it the almost fruity sweetness we detect.

A powerful respiratory aid, Douglas Fir oil is also said to be an effective anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and a great stress and anxiety reducer.

One of my mentors said it is an important oil to support personal transformation. Dr. Bruce Berkowski suggests that Douglas Fir oil "vibrates to the key of paternal protection and nurturing", and that the oil may be helpful for dealing with deep feelings of inferiority and of anxiety, especially anxiety fueld by a sense of powerlessness.

Some find this specific oil mentally stimulating, so I would use it more frequently during the daytime and perhaps avoid it in the evening.  It might be a wonderful 'in the car' oil, to help keep the driver alert, while lightening the spirits of all passengers.

Blends with:  Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Juniper Berry, Lemon, Orange, and Sandalwood.  I plan to try blending with Lemon oil for a concentration or mental focus blend.

Safety:  No contraindications or warnings.
